Simple Salmon

I bought some wild caught previously frozen salmon from whole foods and didn't feel like preparing it in a complicated way.

I 100% believe in only buying and consuming wild caught fish. Farm raised salmon has been found to contain chemicals (and a plethora of other things). I love the vibrant color of wild caught salmon; it's so beautiful!

First things first lets discuss the seasoning! I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, gallopin' gourmet shake, some EVOO, lemon and honey.

I like to whisk all the ingredients together and then use a basting brush to brush the mix over my fish evenly.

Once finished prepping the salmon I staple the parchment paper together horizontally (creating a tent for the salmon to cook in). I think it keeps the moisture locked in while baking, then I put it in a pre heated oven (at 375º) and cook for about 22 minutes. We like our fish cooked medium plus.

Once the salmon is cooked I plate it immediately to stop it from continuing to cook even more on the hot pan. I like to squeeze a little more lemon juice on top and serve it with a nice refreshing salad (I will post the one I served with this salmon in another post).

My kids and husband devour 2 pounds of salmon by themselves (I am a vegetarian so I don't partake), but I enjoy watching them eat it all!

Quick Recipe

Pre Heat Oven to 375º

In a small bowl mix

1 tablespoon of sea salt

1 tablespoon of black pepper

1 tablespoon of garlic powder

1/2 table spoon of paprika

1/2 table spoon of the gallopin' gourmet shake

Juice of one large lemon (and a little more for after the fish is finished cooking)

1 Tablespoon of honey

-These measurements are for about 2 pounds of salmon.

- I recommend marinating the salmon for a couple hours ahead of time if you can.

Whisk all ingredients in a bowl then baste salmon with a brush until marinade is evenly distributed.

Place in 375º oven and let cook for 20-22minutes

Remove salmon from pan, plate immediately and enjoy!
